I often feel like there is much in my life that is far beyond my control … the weather, the stock market, the health and well-being of my family, political changes – the list goes on and changes quickly!
There is really only one thing I can control … me. I can control my attitude, how I respond, what I choose to think about, and my actions and reactions. I am the first to admit that it isn’t always easy to do, and I fail often! It seems easier to give in to my feelings, but I have also found that as I focus more and more on what I can control, the things I can’t control seem to fade somehow.
So how exactly can I control … well, me??? I have found some things that help me “keep my head on straight” by helping me stay focused.
No matter what kind of day I am having, and there have been some challenging ones (as we have all experienced lately), I find 3 things to be grateful for and I write them in my gratitude journal. Somedays it is a stretch but being very specific helps me see even more things to add to the list. And looking back on the list always makes me smile!
I have heard it said that when you focus on the good, the good gets even better! I know that has been true for me. So sharpen that focus and start looking for the good!
