Early August Sunday morning, outside there are some clouds, a slight breeze, and low humidity. It is hard to come by those mornings in the Midwest. The house is quiet and everyone is still sleeping, so I decide to work outside in the yard. I’m not a morning person or an outdoorsy person, but I am OCD and weeds have taken over our landscaping. The front has been cleaned up (that’s what most people see), but the back yard needs some TLC.
I get my supplies together; trash bag, clippers, gloves, and head outside. Such a gorgeous day! The ducks are on the lake swimming around the fountain, the sun is coming around the side of the house, and I start to work pulling weeds.
As I pull each weed, it occurs to me, these things are persistent and somewhat indestructible. They grow everywhere! In the landscaping rocks, through the weed barrier, in the yard, in the concrete pavers, and inside bushes! Nothing gets in their way of finding a way to grow! As I pull them out of the dirt, they have landscape rocks in their roots! How does this happen? How do they continue to grow with so many barriers? They absolutely find a way!
What about people? Do we continue to grow when we face obstacles and barriers? Sometimes yes, but sometimes no. Depends on the obstacle or barrier, right? What needs TLC in your life to help you grow past those obstacles and barriers? Be a weed! Take your time and push yourself a little each day. Keep going and you will absolutely continue to grow! Inch by inch you can move past those barriers and obstacles and reach your destination.
